Endocrinology Clinic

Endocrinologists at UHN take care of patients with diabetes, lipid (‘cholesterol’) disorders, thyroid disease (benign and malignant), osteoporosis and disorders of other endocrine glands (pituitary, parathyroid, adrenal and some male and female reproductive disorders).

Our diabetes management team consists of endocrinologists, diabetes nurse educators, dietitians and chiropodists. In addition, endocrinology has an inpatient consultation team staffed on a rotating basis by an endocrinologist and medical residents. We are also working towards improving inpatient diabetes management for all critically ill and perioperative patients with diabetes with the help of advanced practice diabetes nurses.

Our services:

• Provide consultation to primary inpatient management teams (medical and surgical) to and manage patients’ Diabetes or other Endocrine disorders in hospital
• Support other hospital services (particularly cardiovascular and peripheral vascular surgery, transplantation, general surgery, general medicine)
• Provide outpatient endocrinology/diabetes management
• Conduct research ranging from clinical to fundamental biomedical research, focusing primarily on diabetes
