Pulmonary Function Laboratory - TGH

The Pulmonary Function Laboratory provides valuable information to physicians regarding patients' breathing patterns. With standard lung function tests, the patient breathes through a mouthpiece while seated comfortably in a chair. Generally there are three different steps that the patient performs, and the testing takes approximately 45 minutes to complete.

Our services:

We offer Stage 1 cardio-pulmonary exercise testing and a range of pulmonary function testing, including:

• arterial blood gases
• flow / volume curves
• body plethysmography
• diffusion capacity
• respiratory muscle strength
• calculation of shunt fraction
• methacholine challenge
• evaluation for exercise induced asthma
• six minute walk testing
• helium flow volume curves
